CREATIVE works from 85 students of Politeknik Brunei (PB) are on display at the Architectural and Interior Design exhibition being held at The Airport Mall until April 29. The official opening ceremony was held yesterday.
Held in conjunction with Bandar Seri Begawan as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2019 by Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the exhibition’s theme ‘Unify’ and [React]ive brings the meaning to become united, uniform or whole, and to react to create goodness.
The exhibition strengthens the unity between students, professional industries and the public – from different background skills all around Brunei.
Additionally, it’s a platform to measure students’ ability to react toward problems arising from an architectural contact, with careful considerations of the whole context of their projects and sites.
PB Director Denis Ho Mun Tai launched the event as the guest of honour.
Chairperson of the organising committee Nurmaziyyah Raziqin binti Haji Yusuf said, “In this exhibition, 85 students have displayed their creative work.
“This year’s end-of-year project exhibition from the architectural students includes the proposed community hall project in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam which can bring increasing cultural, social and economic enhancement, while at the same time combining elements of traditional and modern features.
“Other students will be exhibiting recreational park projects at Eco-Poni Garden, Tutong; commercial projects in Jerudong; institution project in Lugu, Tutong; institution project in Pekan Muara, and Architecture History project.”
Meanwhile, the project exhibition by interior design students “includes proposals to modify historic, abandoned buildings and land area for the students’ clients based on the concept of ‘green and sustainable’,” she added.
The PB Director presented certificates of appreciation to students’ external mentors and the sponsors. Awards were also presented to students for their best designs and best concepts, among others.
The award for the outstanding overall performance for interior design went to Awangku Muhammad Safwan bin Pengiran Haji Damit, while Dayangku Wafa Wahidah binti Pengiran Zuaini won the award for the Outstanding Overall Performance for Architecture Design.
